Preparation and Characterization of Porous Natural Rubber Loaded with Silver Nanoparticles

In this study, porous natural rubber (NR) films loaded with silver nanoparticles (AgNPs) were prepared by the solvent casting method. The structure of NR was formed hydrophilic substances such as glycerol, pectin or carrageenan. film properties including morphology, mechanical test, hydrophilicity evaluation, water absorption, release and antibacterial activity determined. From results, morphology a continuous on surface films. carrageenan enhanced porosity, hydrophilicity, sorption developed could sustain Ag+ ions for 2 days showed inhibition zones against Staphylococcus aureus Escherichia coli. Therefore, these have potential to be used chronic wound dressing.
